Marianne Vos: “The crash was totally my own fault”

by Matt de Neef

Marianne Vos had been in the mix for the final sprint at the Dwars door de Westhoek on Sunday until this nasty crash scuppered her chances of victory.

Vos took responsibility for the crash:

“It was totally my fault. I was in front, but noticed that there was someone coming. I gave it some extra power, but my rear wheel came up off the cobblestones and I was launched into the fence,” Vos said. “[It’s] my own fault because I was leaning too far forward. The center of gravity was too far in front.”

Vos was badly bruised in the incident but didn’t break any bones or suffer any other serious injuries.
