Marianne Vos visits Western Australia

by CyclingTips

Marianne Vos, Moniek Tenniglo and Robbie McEwen were in Western Australia this week, meeting with schoolchildren about the benefits of riding a bicycle. Vos was there ahead of participating in the Tour of Margaret River Road Cycle Race.

“We aren’t so used to the distances between towns and the quietness,” said Vos about her first visit to Western Australia and the differences compared to her homeland.

“Everyone in Holland learned to ride bicycles from the age of 4 or 5.

“I think it’s really important for children to do different sports and to know the importance of keeping active.”

Vos answered questions about her longest and toughest rides, her biggest crashes, and her pre-ride diet. The riders emphasised the importance of bike safety and wearing a helmet.
