Nacer Bouhanni injures hand in late-night hotel altercation

by CyclingTips

Nacer Bouhanni withdrew from the French national championships after just 40km on Sunday after injuring his hand in a fight the night before.

Bouhanni’s Cofidis team said that the sprint ace was disturbed late on Saturday night by drunken guests at the hotel he and his brother was staying at.

“Nacer asked them to stop being a nuisance and was assaulted by drunken people,” the Cofidis statement read. “He hurt his right hand and was taken to hospital to get four stitches. He did not suffer a fracture.”

According to his team, Bouhanni’s participation in the Tour de France is not in doubt.
