The Amgen Tour of California will continue to have live video coverage for the next three years, according to an agreement between NBC Sports Group and AEG, owners of the race. The extension will see live coverage of the race across multiple NBC Sports Group properties, including NBC, NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra through 2019.
NBC Sports Group will retain U.S. domestic media rights to include live streaming and up to 16 hours of live race coverage each year.
“We are excited to extend our longstanding partnership with AEG and the Tour of California,” said Michael Perman, a vice president of programming at NBC Sports Group.
“The Amgen Tour of California is a signature part of our annual cycling coverage. We look forward to continuing to showcase the sport’s biggest stars in the best cycling tour in the United States.”
The 2015 telecast ratings numbers were up seven percent with an average of 194,000 viewers, compared to 182,000 in 2014. The 2015 ratings were an increase of 30 percent from 2013.
