New Irish pro track team forming

by CyclingTips

A UCI-registered Irish professional track cycling team is forming in 2017, according to a report in Sticky Bottle. Black Rose Racing was recently announced by Aidan Reade and will be consist of eight men and four women, most of whom will be Irish.

“We will have a focus on racing national championships and internationally,” he said.

“The company will be Black Rose Racing and will have sponsors … such as Casco, Powerbar, Lightweight, Verge and Blackthorn Design.

“We have invested in track bikes, wheels, team cars, van and even a team bus to accommodate riders at international events to cut down on the major expense of hotels.”

This news comes not long after plans for Ireland’s first indoor velodrome came into doubt, due to funding shortfalls.
