The Irish development team Aquablue is expected to create a new UCI ProContinental team next year.
Stickybottle reports the new team will have its base in the south of France and number about 16 riders, including several from Ireland.
Currently a development team in its fourth year, the development squad would continue alongside the pro outfit. Former Irish pro Tim Barry leads the organisation.
This would be the second UCI pro team from Ireland, along with the An Post-Chainreaction Continental squad, and would give Irish riders a natural progressing up the ranks another step.
The team hopes to race events like the Tour de Yorkshire and pro events in the Middle East, Continental Europe and the US.
