Wiggins for Rowing Champs, Matthews wins Oppy Medal: Daily News Digest
In what may be signs of a thaw in the tension between Phil Gaimon and Fabian Cancellara, the Swiss rider posted an unexpected message to the American on Friday.
Writing on Twitter, he invited Gaimon to take part in one of his Chasing Cancellara events in 2018.
Hi @philgaimon, I actually don’t know you, but I kindly invite you to beat me at one of my 8 #ChasingCancellara races, by next year 2018. You choose the @chasecancellara -date out of 5 countries. I am very curious to see how much watt you can push!Start training!#nomotorneeded pic.twitter.com/cxNzKaCG4Q

The invitation came after Cancellara’s lawyers said that they were demanding an apology from Gaimon and a immediate freeze on sales of his book Draft Animals. In that publication Gaimon had expressed an opinion about alleged motor use by Cancellara in the 2010 spring Classics, suggesting that Cancellara may have used such a device.
Speaking in recent days, he said that he was giving his thoughts on speculation that has previously been expressed by others.
