No Norwegian WorldTour team for 2017

by CyclingTips

The Norwegian WorldTour team effort led by Thor Hushovd that hoped to launch in 2017 is on hold. Hushovd posted the announcement on his Instagram.

According to a report posted on Landevei, Hushovd said he had many good meetings with potential partners and that the dialogue will continue with them and other potential sponsors for the future, but that starting the team next year was no longer an option..

He said he has learned a lot from the process and that he will take the experience with him as he proceeds.

It has been nearly a year since the former world champion announced the project, but a challenging sponsorship market and economic slowdown means that a Norwegian-based WorldTour team will not be racing the Tour de France in 2017 as he had hoped.
