Reports: Meeusen to join van der Poel on Beobank-Corendon

by CyclingTips

Tom Meeusen, who is growing impatient with his current Telenet Fidea Lions team about a contract extension, might be jumping over to the Beobank-Corendon team of Dutch champion Mathieu van der Poel, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

Meeusen, whose contract expires at the end of this year, is in the same situation as others on the team. He has had strong results this season, including a second place at the Hoogerheide World Cup last month and a win at the Soudal Classics Waaslandcross.

However, he has watched recently as team manager Nys has signed contracts with other riders.

“I know that Tom is indeed talking with other teams,” Nys said on Sunday. “He will be out of contract and looking for a new agreement for the coming years. Then it is logical that he talks to others.”

“I have not talked with anyone,” Meeusen said earlier last week. “I will wait until after my conversation with Sven Nys at the end of this month.”
