Safety notice for Cannondale Slate tubeless wheels

by CyclingTips

Cannondale issued a safety notice affecting the Slate adventure bike, involving running the wheels and tyres tubeless, resulting cases of the tyres coming off the rims.

The Slate from Cannondale will come in three models, all with Cannondale's own Lefty forks. One interesting thing to note is the fact that the tyres and wheels are in-house products too.

Sold with Cannondale’s own-brand tubeless compatible rims and on some models custom Panaracer tubeless tyres. There have been no issues using tubes, but a few customers experienced problems when converting to tubeless.

Cannondale is urging Slate customers to stop riding immediately and install tubes before riding again. For a long-term solution Cannondale is offering replacement Mavic XM419 rims which are tubeless ready.
