Valverde leads Catalunya; De Vos on top in Langkawi: Daily News Digest
The Volta a Catalunya was due to have its first summit finish on Wednesday, but this has instead been cancelled. According to CyclingPro.Net, concern over high winds and possible avalanches has led the organisers to curtail the route and leave out that final climb.
The race will instead come to a conclusion in Camprodon, approximately 25 kilometres from the original location. That will still see the riders scale two category one climbs, but the high finish will now be absent.
There had been concern about the Vallter 2000 conclusion to the stage due to snow on the climb in recent days. However it appears that the winds are an equal concern. The race will still have two tough mountain days on Thursday and Friday.
