Following on the debut of its disc-brake-only Avion Pro road wheelset in 2015, Stan’s NoTubes has now followed up with a rim-brake variant. The new Avion R Pro features the same 41mm-deep external rim profile, unusually generous 22mm internal rim width (for use with 25-40mm tires), and tubeless compatibility as the original version, but with higher-temperature resins designed to better handle the heat generated by prolonged rim-brake application.
Accompanying the modified rims are new Neo R Ultimate Speedsync hubs, built with sealed cartridge bearings, oversized aluminum hub shells and axles, and a quick-engaging 72-tooth driver mechanism — all joined with Sapim CX-Ray bladed stainless steel spokes (18 front, 24 rear). Alloy freehub bodies are available in both Shimano/SRAM and Campagnolo fitments.
Claimed weight is 1,455g per pair, and retail price is US$2,249 / £1,900 (pricing for other regions is TBC). For more information, click through to NoTubes.
