Australian Scott Sunderland was best on day two of the Tour of China II, winning a bunch sprint to the line in Lixian. The IsoWhey Sports SwissWellness team rider beat Spain’s Jon Aberasturi (Team UKYO) and the Italian Marco Benfatto (Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia), plus the rest of the peloton.

Tuesday’s opening stage was won by the Costa Rican Kevin Rivera (Androni-Sidermec-Bottechia), who reached the finish in Ximaxiang 19 seconds clear of Italian Mirko Trosino (Willier Triestina – Selle Italia) and 23 ahead of Colombia’s Mauricio Ortega (RTS – Monton Racing).

Riviera finished 33rd on Wednesday’s second stage, finishing in the same time as Sunderland. As a result he maintains his grip on the general classification, 22 seconds ahead of Trosino and 29 up on Ortega.

The 2.1-ranked race continues on Thursday with a 94 kilometre stage starting and finishing at Changde Hanshou.
