Summerhill takes over lead with stage win at Tour de Taiwan

American Danny Summerhill (Unitedhealthcare) took the sprint win on the third stage of the Tour de Taiwan, and also takes over the race lead with two stages remaining.

“Today was going to be a decisive day,” said DS Hendrik Redant. “The plan was to have Lachlan Norris and Danny in the front at the start of the last climb. The finish was very technical which suited Danny. Lachlan did a great job controlling the Colombian rider who won the first stage and Danny finished it off as champion.”

The 118km stage featured a crazy finish after a series of climbs.

“I felt really good today,” said Summerhill. “My team did a great job racing as a unit and clearly it paid off with a victory, which is always the plan.”
