With the final countdown to the Tour de France and Giro Rosa underway, the male and female riders of Team Sunweb will complete their preparations in the upcoming national championships. The German team is chasing success in several different countries, starting this Wednesday with the time trials.
“In Germany former U23 European and junior world time trial champion Lennard Kämna will be looking for a solid result, alongside Ruben Zepuntke from Team Sunweb’s Development Program,” said the team in a statement on Monday.
“Defending time trial champion Tom Dumoulin will line up in the Netherlands looking to extend his title to wear the jersey for another year. Also starting in the Dutch time trial championships are Nils Eekhoff, Marc Goos and Jarno Mobach, all of whom are part of Team Sunweb’s Development Program, as well as Sam Oomen. Georg Preidler will battle against the clock in Austria and Søren Kragh Andersen in Denmark.”
The female riders aiming for glory include the former world champion and current European time trial champion Ellen van Dijk. She has been working on her TT position in the TU Delft University’s wind tunnels and won the time trial plus the overall classification in the Healthy Ageing Tour in April. She will be joined in the Dutch championships on Wednesday by Lucinda Brand, Floortje Mackaij and Sabrina Stultiens.
Other Team Sunweb riders chasing medals in their national championships are Canada’s Leah Kirchmann, Germany’s Liane Lippert and France’s Juliette Labous.
