The Canyon-SRAM team reports that its German rider Trixi Worrack underwent emergency surgery earlier this week after sustaining a crash at the Trofeo Alfredo Binda over the weekend.

Worrack crashed roughly 55km into the 123km Women’s WorldTour race and was taken to hospital. According to the team a CT scan showed damage to Worrack’s kidney so the German national champion was transferred to Varese hospital, where she had emergency surgery .

Directeur Sportif Beth Duryea said: “It was a serious injury. We are now focusing on the best treatment for Trixi. Her health and recovery now is our only priority and at this point it can’t be indicated how long that will take. The race organisers have been very helpful and we extend our appreciation.”
