On another mountainous day in this punishing final week at the Giro d’Italia, Velon was tracking data for riders in the peloton, chase group and breakaways. including stage winner Pierre Rolland of Cannondale-Drapac. Data below comes from Rolland’s solo attack to victory.
Power: 403 watts
30-second peak power: 503 watts, attacking from breakaway
Likewise, Velon shared the power data for Tejay van Garderen (BMC Racing), who was in the breakaway when Rolland attacked. Chasing Rolland in the last 8km, his 10-minute power was significantly lower.
