Vichot takes Tour du Haut Var, Simon wins final stage

by CyclingTips

Previously the race winner in 2013 and 2016, Arthur Vichot landed his third Tour du Haut Var title on Sunday when he emerged best on GC. The FDJ rider had finished second to Samuel Dumoulin (AG2R La Mondiale) on Saturday’s uphill finish to Saint-Paul en Forêt, but Dumoulin was unable to stay with his challengers on Sunday’s concluder to Draguignan.

First to the line was Julien Simon (Cofidis), with Vichot second and Maxime Vantomme (WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect) third. Dumoulin trailed in 22nd, 28 seconds back.

Vichot won on stage placings, ending the race on the same time as Simon and third-placed Romain Hardy (Fortuneo – Vital Concept).
