Speaking days after the crash last week which saw his QuickStep Floors’ teammates Laurens De Plus and Petr Vakoc hospitalised, Bob Jungels has put out an emotional appeal on Youtube. De Plus and Vakoc were hit by a truck while training in South Africa, with the latter suffering several fractured vertebrae.

“From one moment to the other you can have a laugh with your best buddy, and then the next second you are running around screaming and don’t know what to do,” he said. “Asking for help, shouting, and afterwards having him in your arms and not knowing if he is ever going to be able to perform cycling again or walk again.”
