Driver allegedly deliberately clips British domestic team on training ride

by CyclingTips

Riders from the British CatfordCC Equipe-Banks team said a driver nearly crashed the team while on a training ride during their preseason camp on the Costa Blanca in eastern Spain this week. One rider was separated from the group and was chasing back on when he and a driver had a near-collision. This apparently angered the driver who chased the group, verbally assaulting them, before escalating the incident.

“He then proceeded to overtake the bunch and swerved into one of our riders [Lawrence Carpenter] who got clipped by the car and narrowly avoided coming down,” Lloyd Chapman told Cycling Weekly. “After this, the driver then swerved towards another rider at the front of the group [Will Fox].”
