He was with Team Sky for several years, winning the Tour de France in 2012, but Bradley Wiggins appears not to have fond memories of the team. Speaking at the launch of his Team Wiggins squad in London on Tuesday, the Briton had advice for junior time trial and cyclocross world champion Tom Pidcock.
“Don’t go to Team Sky in the future, go somewhere else. They will ruin you,” he said, as reported by Cyclist.
The magazine interpreted the remark as being made in jest, but noted that other comments by Wiggins did appear to reflect negatively on the team. One example was talking about a more personable approach.
“We want to be a team who engages with the public, not hidden in a big, black bus behind screens,” he said. “Look at tonight, there are no ropes, you can engage with us.”
