Young Spanish rider positive for testosterone

by VeloClub

Manuel Sola’s stagiarie stint with Caja Rural-Seguros RGA gave the 25 year old a chance to compete in races such as the Larry H.Miller Tour of Utah and the Colorado Classic, but his career progress may well have hit a wall.

According to Ciclo21, the Spaniard has tested positive for testosterone. The test was carried out at the end of May, and because of the A-sample result, he has been given a provisional suspension by the Spanish cycling federation RFEC. He was competing with the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA amateur squad then prior to having his trial with the pro team.

Sola finished second on stage two and fifth overall. He has asked for the analysis of the B sample but the results very rarely are different. As a consequence he looks almost certain to lose those race results and to face a long suspension. He had been due to compete with Radio Popular Boavista in 2018.
